About St Julian's C of E Primary |
St Julian’s is a happy and caring place where every individual has a role in creating a school of which we can all be proud. The purpose of this booklet is to give you an insight into the daily life of our school and answer some of the questions which will inevitably arise from time to time.
St Julian’s is situated in the attractive and friendly village of Wellow, just south of Bath. The main school building, which dates from 1843, provides the school hall, one classroom, the library and the offices. There are three additional classrooms close to the main building, each with its own facilities. Adjacent to the school is the main playground, a small field, known as ‘the paddock’, an adventure play area and a conservation area.
We are a Church of England school and we value and promote the Christian ethos of the school. We enjoy close links with the local church and community.

Download our prospectus to find out more about St Julian's.
The prospectus can give you only an impression of our school and we would very much encourage you to come and see St Julian’s for yourself. Visitors are welcome to view our school at work and at play. During your child’s time with us there will be many opportunities for you to visit the school and plenty of events for you to attend. Developing an active and honest relationship with parents and carers is central to all that we do. With your help and involvement, we can ensure that your child’s time with us is happy, challenging and rewarding and that he/she will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to learn effectively and independently.
We have endeavoured to make the information contained in our prospectus as clear and helpful as possible. However if there is anything you would like to discuss in more detail please come in to see us or telephone.
Some of the things we are particularly proud of:
- Our ‘outdoor classroom’. Currently we are working on ways of fully integrating our outdoor environment into our learning practices. St Julian’s has a beautiful setting in the heart of Wellow village and our wonderful ‘outdoor classroom’ provides our children with exceptional learning opportunities.
- Our creative approach to the curriculum. We offer a wide range of creative arts (drama, music, art, etc.): we strongly believe that enabling children to be creative both promotes and facilitates effective learning.
- As a Church of England school, we have forged strong links with the Church and also with the local community. Every Wednesday, the school meets for assembly in St Julian’s Church and all parents are invited to join us in a simple service led by the vicar.
- St Julian’s embraces Inclusion as one of its core values. Everyone in our community is valued and the school positively promotes equality. We are proud of being accredited once again with the Inclusion Quality Mark.
- Central to the success of all we do is the vital partnership between parents and carers. With your help and involvement we can ensure that your child’s time with us is happy, challenging and rewarding and that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to learn effectively and independently.
