Welcome to Chestnut Class
November 2018
We have embraced our new topic on 'Festivals and celebrations' by learning about Bonfire night, Diwali and Remembrance Day. We found out about the gunpowder plot and ordered the story, made firework pictures and wrote bonfire night poems. As part of the celebration of Diwali, Mrs Karthauser visited the class to talk about how she celebrates this festival. We made Rangoli window decorations, wrote the story of Rama and Sita and made puppets to act out the story.   We even made Diva lamps out of clay.   For Remembrance day we wrote out poems and made wreaths using handprint and poppies.  We learnt the song 'We will remember'. Take a look at our video of us singing this song.
Last week was anti-bullying week. We thought about how special and unique we all are and wrote about the things that make us special.
Chestnut class have shared some of our learning in our class assembly too.   What a busy start to term 2!
Over the next few weeks we will be learning words and songs for our KS1 nativity performance in church.
Take a look at our topic web to find out more.
