Welcome to Chestnut Class
This term our new topic is 'Around the World- hot climates'.
Take a look at our topic web to find out more!
We have been finding out all about animals that live in the Arctic and writing information about them. We have been reading 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers about a penguin who is lonely and looking for a friend. In jigsaw we have been thinking about our successes and our goals and dreams. We have enjoyed finding out about 2D and 3D shapes and are now beginning to learn about money.
This week we have a parent visiting to talk to us about his Polar expeditions and a visit from Avon Fire and Rescue.
We have started to read 'The tiger who came to tea' and have been writing parts of the story in preparation for writing our own versions. In maths, we have been measuring length using cubes and rulers. Year 2 children have been practising their times tables, making arrays and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We enjoyed sharing our learning with parents and are looking forward to book week (4th March).
