Oak Class – Reception/Year 1
In Oak class we help our Reception and Year 1 children to thrive through play-based learning, outdoor exploration and challenging opportunities in preparation for life's adventures!
In Oak class we have daily phonic lessons followed by literacy and math learning. In the afternoons we have a wide curriculum of opportunities and experiences which are enriched by our nurturing recovery curriculum.

We have also sent home a separate home learning book which has a challenge grid with the aim for you to select one activity per weekend . All activities completed in either book can be photographed and placed on your child’s portfolio via Class Dojo. We look forward to sharing with you your child’s achievements .
Year 1 Your child will now have been sent home a catch up phonics book. Please read the notes inside the front cover for support. We have also sent home a Year 1 Home Learning book with a learning grid of challenges for them to select from ( 1 per weekend). Please update your child’s Class Dojo portfolio so that we can share in their achievements. Children in Year 1 are also given spellings on Monday to practice reading and writing, ready for a small test on Friday. You will find these in their contact book.
