Our Vision & Values

Our Vision & Values at St Julian's Church School

We are a Church of England primary school. We are in the Diocese of Bath and Wells where there are 182 Church of England Schools.

We are a happy, inclusive school where everyone is valued. Through learning that is creative, rich and full of opportunities, we aspire to develop a love for learning rooted in Christian values. We encourage children to follow their dreams and have the confidence to be the best they can be.

Our Vision for our school community is:

Aim high – believe – succeed

“I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly.”
(John 10:10)

Abundance denotes something that is beyond what is expected, and in every direction. Jesus didn’t come to just give us life, but life to the fullest. At St Julian’s an abundant life is about enabling children to flourish physically, intellectually, spiritually, socially and culturally – educating the whole person.

The Christian vision of St Julian’s nurtures everyone’s unique gifts, talents and character (Aim high – Believe) so that they can go on to live the whole of life in all its fullness, embracing their own distinct contribution for the flourishing of themselves and the wider community (Succeed).

Our Christian Core Values that we live and breathe every day are:

Creativity, Respect, Aspiration, Joy, Kindness, Resilience

Creativity:
a rich, varied and challenging curriculum where learning is an adventure

“Yet you, Lord, are our Father.  We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.”
(Isaiah 64:8)

Respect: celebrating difference, talents and creativity; knowing our rights and responsibilities to ourselves and others

“Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble towards one another.”
(Philippians 2:3)

Aspiration: achieving our potential, following our dreams, thinking creatively

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
(
Philippians 4:13)

Joy: being curious, having fun, being remarkable, enjoying exciting surprises

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy.”
(
Romans 15:13)

Kindness: to ourselves and each other, promoting God’s love

“Be kind and compassionate to one another.”
(
Ephesians 4:32)

Resilience: understanding that mistakes are a first attempt in learning; keep on trying!

“…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
(Hebrews 12:1)

We believe in God who loved the world into existence through creativity and joy, delighting in its diversity. Following the example of Jesus, we can show kindness and respect to ourselves and others; and by the power of the Holy Spirit have the confidence and aspiration to achieve our unique potential. Knowing how much we are loved and valued helps us to develop resilience to face the challenges of life.

As we live an abundant life, a life in all its fullness, these Core Christian Values underpin our ability to flourish. The values guide us to aim high, believe both in ourselves and something greater, and to be successful.
