Our Vision & Values

Our Vision & Values at St Julian's Church School

Our Vision for our school community is:

Aim high – believe – succeed

We are a happy, inclusive school where everyone is valued. Through learning that is creative, rich and full of opportunities, we aspire to develop a love for learning rooted in Christian values. We encourage children to follow their dreams and have the confidence to be the best they can be.

Our Core Values that we live and breathe every day are:

Creativity, Respect, Aspiration, Joy, Kindness, Resilience

Creativity:
a rich, varied and challenging curriculum where learning is an adventure

“Yet you, Lord, are our Father.  We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.”
(Isaiah 64:8)

Respect: celebrating difference, talents and creativity; knowing our rights and responsibilities to ourselves and others

“Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble towards one another.”
(Philippians 2:3)

Aspiration: achieving our potential, following our dreams, thinking creatively

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
(
Philippians 4:13)

Joy: being curious, having fun, being remarkable, enjoying exciting surprises

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy.”
(
Romans 15:13)

Kindness: to ourselves and each other, promoting God’s love

“Be kind and compassionate to one another.”
(
Ephesians 4:32)

Resilience: understanding that mistakes are a first attempt in learning; keep on trying!

“…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
(Hebrews 12:1)

Small schools, big aspirations: branching out for learning

We teach our children that it is important to value who we are as a small school but to also work closely with others in our local, national and international community. We therefore also share this joint overarching vision with Shoscombe Church School based on the bible verse from John 15:5:

Jesus said ‘I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.’ (John 15:5).
