THIS GIRL CAN

THIS GIRL CAN

On Friday 2nd May, we went to Bath University to take part in a ‘This Girl Can!’ Leadership course. Firstly, we went to the sports hall and did tag rugby which is when you need to try and score a try for your team without getting tagged. Next, we played throwing and catching games where we passed a tennis ball around a circle. After that, we had lunch and refilled our water bottles, and then followed our instructor Charles to a room where we did judo! Roxy, one of the teachers, taught us how to bow when she shouted ‘Ray!’ She also taught us how to land safely without hurting ourselves, and we learnt to safely flip someone over our shoulders: we made sure that they landed on a crash mat so they didn’t get injured. When Judo was finished, we did athletics. First, we played a running game to warm our bodies up, then we got into pairs and played a bib where one person (wearing a bib) chased their partner! After that, we ran 400 metres! After this, our legs felt like jelly! Then, we went inside to get a drink and picked up our stuff. To finish the day, we enjoyed a tour around Bath University. Outside, there was a high jump, hammer throwing and shot put. Inside, there was a performance gym where they play loud music. We had a great day and we’re really grateful for the opportunity!
