SCHOOL VISION UPDATE

Our school vision has always been:

Aim High – Believe – Succeed

Although most of the children and staff recognise this and have a basic understanding of its meaning, we haven’t been confidently using it to drive the school forward.

This week we have relaunched our vision and explained to the children what it means, why it exists and how it reflects us as a Christian school.

We started by establishing what the three different phrases mean and shared this with the children:

Aim HighBelieveSucceed
We are aspirational.

We set goals for ourselves.

We try our best.

We work hard.

We cheer on others.

We recognise uniqueness.

    We trust in ourselves.

We trust in others.

We trust in something greater than ourselves.

We are resilient.

We don’t give up.

We carry on the journey even when it’s tough.

We are kind to ourselves and others.

    We meet our goals.

We improve.

We flourish and develop.

We celebrate others.

We are proud of ourselves and others.

We recognise uniqueness.

In order to achor our vision in our school’s Christian belief, we have tied it to a bible story in which Jesus said:

“I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

For children this is quite a tricky extract to understand. We explained it as Christians believe God gave humans life abundantly. This means God wants humans to live their life to the fullest. God wants life to be bigger and more than we expect – physically, intellectually, spiritually, socially and culturally.

At St Julian’s we want you to have a full life. We want to educate you in all these areas. We want you to aim high and believe so you can live life in all its fullness. You then succeed when you see the results of this – you flourish (grow)!

In order to do all this we use our core values. They support us to flourish as God wanted us to.

Creativity, Respect, Resilience, Joy, Aspiration and Kindness

We have updated our website page to include a more ‘grown up’ explanation as well as a brief description about why we have these specific core values as a school. Please click the link below to view this.

And of course we have new posters to further support the children’s understanding, that I’ve also included below.
