Pupil Premium Update (Free School Meals)
From September 2026, there will be an additional category to qualify for pupil premium (free school meals). Currently, eligibility is based on households in receipt of Universal Credit with earnings of £7,400 or less. The new category will cover pupils in households receiving Universal Credit with no specific earning limit. Many families will become eligible for the first time under this new criteria.
