Sport Premium at St Julian's Church School

We want children at St Julian’s to develop a lifelong enjoyment of being active.

At St Julian’s Church School, we believe that sport and physical activity are an important part of every child’s education. Being active supports children’s physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, teamwork and resilience, as well as helping them to develop important life skills.

We use our PE and Sport Premium funding to provide children with high-quality PE, a broad range of sporting opportunities and positive experiences of being active. Our aim is for every child to develop the skills, confidence and enjoyment they need to lead healthy, active lives.

We invest our funding in a range of opportunities, including:

  • Working with specialist PE teachers and qualified sports coaches to develop the quality of PE teaching.
  • Providing a wide range of sporting and physical activity opportunities, including after-school clubs.
  • Supporting staff with professional development to increase their confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE.
  • Providing opportunities for children to take part in competitions and festivals.
  • Giving children opportunities to experience sports and activities beyond those that can typically be offered in school.
  • Investing in high-quality sports and PE equipment.
  • Improving opportunities for active play, physical activity and outdoor learning during break and lunchtimes.
  • Developing opportunities for all children to participate, regardless of their age, ability or previous experience.

Our PE and Sport Premium Grant enables us to make sustainable improvements to PE and physical activity provision. We use the funding not only to provide exciting opportunities for children now, but also to develop the skills, resources and expertise within our school so that future pupils continue to benefit.
