ATHENS TRIP

On Monday 4th June, seven children from St Julian’s joined seven children from High Littleton and Farrington and travelled to Athens. The trip was part of the Turing Scheme which is a government funded project that enables children to travel abroad for free. The incredible Mr Snell from Welton Primary School applied to the government to take our school away on this trip. Our focus for the trip was environmental sustainability.

While in Athens, the children met up with the Athenian school we have chatted with on GoogleMeet. We went to their school and learnt about what life was like for them. Throughout the week we explored ancient ruins and hiked huge hills to appreciate the stunning views. We also played in the park with our new friends as well as went swimming at the beach.

We noticed that there were not as many bins or recycling units in Athens. The streets also had a lot of litter and most empty walls were covered in graffiti. The beach was also very dirty compared to our beaches at home.

Mr Snell planned, organised and led the entire trip for a group of children and adults he did not know. We cannot thank Mr Snell enough for giving up so much of his time to provide our children with this opportunitiy.

We would also like to thank the incredible Mrs Miles for giving up her time to come on the trip too.
